Give up hunting for IDM cracked versions, just use NDM
Isn't it better to use NDM, which is open-source, free, has no pop-ups, and no blacklist? Why bother with IDM? Below are the configurations and pitfalls I've accumulated over three months of using NDM.
Download
GitHub Releases: github.com/neatdownloadmanager/neat-download-manager/releases
On Windows, choose the .exe installer or the .zip portable version. I use the portable version — just unzip and double-click NDM.exe.
Two settings to change on first launch
Click the gear icon in the top-right corner (Settings):
- General → Max connections per download: the default is 8, change it to 16 or 32. If your broadband bandwidth allows, max it out, but older routers may drop connections.
- Save files to: change it to a non-system drive, e.g.,
D:\\Downloads.
