Nano Banana Pro: An Exceptionally Capable, But Not-So-Romantic Banana

Google's Nano Banana Pro is here. After trying it out, I feel it's like an exceptionally capable intern: impressive execution, but lacking a bit of "soul." My task was to map out the boundaries of this intern's abilities.

1. Text Rendering: A Meticulous Typist

I asked it to generate a Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book) cover with a title.

• It did it: The six characters "效率翻倍秘籍" ("Secrets to Doubling Efficiency") were clear and error-free, like a straight-A student who never makes mistakes.
• But that's all it did: The text was neatly "placed" in some blank area of the image, as if it had signed a non-aggression pact with the background. It completed the "typing" instruction, but when it came to "design," it politely chose to keep its distance.

Verdict: If you want to add text to an existing image, it's a genius; if you expect it to treat text as part of the design, it might still need a bit of artistic training.
