Shipping a Side Project in a Weekend

AIRouter 8月 12, 2026

Weekend projects die of ambition, not laziness. The ones that ship share a shape.

Saturday morning: pick one sharp edge

A weekend product can do one thing well or five things badly. Write the one-sentence pitch, then delete every feature that is not that sentence. If the pitch contains the word "and", it is two products.

Saturday afternoon: buy the boring parts

Auth, payments, emails, admin — this is what templates and managed services are for. Every hour spent rebuilding a login form is an hour your actual idea did not get. My rule: nothing custom below the product layer.

Saturday night: demo, not polish

Get it in front of one real person before bed. Not a screenshot — a URL they can click. Their first thirty seconds will tell you more than a week of polishing.

Sunday: the last 20% that matters

Error states, an empty state that explains itself, a landing page that says what it does in plain words. Then ship, post it somewhere, and go back to your life.

The commute on Monday resets your brain anyway — that is the deadline. Anything not done by then was never the sharp edge.
